Books By Mail

Purpose:Books By Mail represents a library without walls, a special service to patrons ages 50+ who cannot get to the Monroeville Public Library. The elderly, the homebound, those without adequate means of transportation, and people with disabilities living in the taxing district (Monroeville and Pitcairn) all qualify. There is no charge for Books By Mail. How to Apply for Service: Eligible individuals may receive service by completing and returning a Books By Mail Application. Applications are available by calling the Monroeville Senior Center, Monroeville Public Library, or by download. How It Works:Registered patrons may mail in requests by title, subject, or type of material, and/or ask us to select for them. We consult the patron's confidential records and select items to be mailed to them in convenient nylon bags. Materials Include:Regular and large print books. Patrons will be mailed two books at a time. You may keep the books for (30) thirty days, due dates will be provided. Books can be renewed by phone unless they are on reserve. To return books, simply repack them in the handy mailer in which they arrive. Postage is paid... There is NO CHARGE for Books By Mail. To Return the Books: Patrons simply put the books back in the same bag in which they were delivered; remove and reverse the address label on the bag so the Library address is showing; attach the safety plastic in the same fashion as when it came to you (Located in bag).
