About Our Project

Back of the LibraryMonroeville Public Library’s most notable architectural features are the walls of windows that flank its north, east and south sides. These window walls, which cover nearly 4,000 square feet, allow for maximum sunlight in most areas of the library throughout the day, minimizing the need for more costly, artificial interior lighting. They are original to the building and its subsequent additions, ranging in age from 37 to 47 years. As we work to replace these windows, we look forward, not only to a clearer view, but to a clearer vision of a bright and healthy future for Monroeville Public Library.

Our Thanks

Library North Easy frontWe are deeply grateful to the Municipality of Monroeville for its generous support of this urgent and important need. Throughout the past four and a half decades, it has been a generous and conscientious supporter of our needs, our wishes and our dreams. We could not ask for a better or more faithful partner or patron of our work.

Thanks are also due to the many friends of the Library who have supported this project with their generous charitable gifts. To all of you we extend our deepest appreciation.

We look forward to the many ways that our window replacement project will improve our facility, our assets, our services and programs. As always, we are here to freely dispense our resources to all who enter our doors, and we warmly welcome your input on additional ways we can better serve Monroeville and the surrounding neighborhoods.

The Greenest Buildings are the ones already standing

Embodied energy is the amount of energy that went into the production of a building -- thereby making it "greener" to improve an old building than to tear it down and rebuild from scratch. Monroeville Public Library's twin goals are to increase efficiency and sustainability within our current infrastructure as we strive towards a greener future.
