Nicole Hernline x111
library director
Nicole is the director at the Monroeville Public Library. She taught 7th grade English for four years where she learned that all humans who work with middle schoolers deserve to go straight to heaven. Her students also called her the Queen of the books, which got her thinking that perhaps that’s what she would like to be. She learned quickly that libraries are not monarchies – and are, happily enough, bastions of democracy. And so much more than books. So she found her way to the University of Pittsburgh to collect another Master’s degree, learned to Google better than everyone else, and settled for becoming an executive director of two amazing libraries. Monroeville is her favorite.
Pam Bodziock x118
assistant director/teen librarian
Ms. B has been the Teen Services Librarian since 2006 and the Assistant Director since 2016. She loves sci-fi and fantasy, comic books, Sherlock Holmes, and a plethora of other geeky interests. When she’s not being a librarian, she’s either hiking in a nearby park or writing stories about her geeky interests.
Barb English x112
assistant to the director/circulation supervisor
Barb has been serving the library since 2006; often seen at the Circulation Desk assisting Patrons, or on the phone scheduling one of the library’s meeting spaces for individual or group use.
Rose Shirer x115
office manager
I began working at MPL in July of 2012 as a part time clerk. I have progressively worked my way to the full time Office Manager. I love the library so this is the perfect job for me.
Tracy Happe x126
head of adult services
Tracy is Head of Adult Services and has been at Monroeville Public Library since 2007. She loves helping people in whatever form that takes. Whether it’s helping someone apply for a job, find their next favorite book, or just pointing them in the right direction!
Hope Benson x127
head of children's & outreach
Miss Hope is the Head of Children’s Services and Outreach here at the library. She dreams of someday picking up with her husband and two kids (son in high school, daughter in middle school) and moving to live in a castle in the UK Miss Hope especially loves scary books and books about history. She enjoys eating chocolate (with peanut butter) and going on road trips.
Alan Rader x123
assistand director/ technology librarian
Alan is a "big weirdo" and proud of it. He has a masters degree in art and is looking forward to helping you figure how we can make ANY project, just ask...
Cory Little x122
head of adult programming
Cory Little has been a Reference and Instruction Librarian at the Monroeville Public Library for over 5 years but has worked in libraries for most of his adult life. He is currently involved in two book clubs that each focus on non-fiction books, so he's always looking for fiction recommendations - particularly in fantasy, sci-fi and horror!
Catriona Kirk x145
children's librarian
Miss Catriona has been working in the Children’s Room since 2017. She enjoys reading stories in a silly voice and cajoling children into singing with her – there are not many jobs where she could use this specific skill set, so she was happy to find her place at the library. When she is not at the library, she likes reading mysteries, traveling to new places, and napping. No matter what she tells you, she is not actually the Library Police.
Olivia Moe x147
children's librarian
Olivia became the MPL's newest full-time, Children's Librarian in February of 2022! In her free time, she indulges in an unsatiable love of books, writing, cinema, whales, coffee, Dungeons and Dragons, and spending time with her fiancé Andrew, their cat Noodle, and her loved ones! This is her debut staff bio.
Michele Hunter x110
circulation specialist
Michele has been with the library since 2016 and she is the Circulation Specialist.
She can usually be found helping patrons at either Circulation desk, and finding the “unfindables”.
Tiffany Cannon x114
circulation clerk/trainer
Tiffany has worked at the Monroeville Public Library since dirt was new. Tiffany is one of the bright faces you will see at the circulation desk as well as helping to train new staff and volunteers.
Alice Rathjen x140
assistand director/ technology librarian
When I not rummaging through thrift stores to find items for upcoming Library events (check out this dress) and for my own wardrobe, you’ll find me baking and gardening.
I enjoy family BBQs with corn hole games and volley ball that includes my husband grilling and me making pies.
Bill Freker x149
circulation technology specialist
Bill has been working at the library for six years, he has six rabbits. He like cars, video games, and hiking
